2.Add 0.25 g of erythromycin (in 100 mL distilled water), and prepare slurry of silica gel (50 g) in it.

3.Prepare the TLC plates (10× 5 cm × 0.5 mm) by spreading the slurry with Stahl-type applicator, and activate the plates overnight at 60 °C.

4.Apply spots of samples of dansyl-dl- and dansyl-l-amino acids side by side at the 500 ng level using a 25 μL Hamilton syringe or a graduated capillary.

5.Develop the chromatograms in paper-lined, pre-equilibrated glass chamber of appropriate size (see Note 14).
